How to Wear a Scarf as a Belt

At the beginning of August, Leandra Medine Cohen, an American fashion blogger best known for Man Repeller, sent out a Substack newsletter to her audience. Its simple message was that a silk scarf doesn’t just go around your neck to keep you warm — there are other, summer styling options! This message resonated with the fashion crowd and, following Leandra’s lead, fashionistas around the world started wrapping scarves around their waists without wasting any time!

Naturally, I decided to jazz up my outfit by tying a scarf around my waist, too!

I had an idea for a vibrant and fresh look, so I paired my linen sleeveless shirt in light yellow with a mustard silky A-line skirt. Since these two colors are in the same color palette, which might turn out too boring, I tied a scarf around my waist!

I picked one from an accessory brand called YOUZEY. They sent me a colorful scarf, “Kaleidoscope,” for review here on LittlePinkTop. I was absorbed by its patterns, and any ’90s kids who had a kaleidoscope toy will probably understand why…

This scarf has kaleidoscopic patterns in reddish and earthy colors that pop against the ivory cloth. It’s also very soft, which made accessorizing with it a breeze! The fabric waved around my waist without bunching up anywhere.

So, if you want to add a little color or character to your outfits, try wearing a scarf like a belt!

But don’t go for thick fabrics like wool. Such options would be too bulky. As Leandra pointed out, a silky scarf would be best. You could also opt for a lightweight option like viscose, polyester, or a soft cotton blend.
